A project organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG), Sustainable High City Tech Tokyo, better known as SusHi Tech Tokyo, promotes the development of sustainable cities through technology.
SusHi Tech Tokyo is here at IFA 2024 to present its Tokyo Bay eSG Project; showcase the technologies from several of its partner companies; and promote the upcoming SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025.
The Tokyo Bay eSG Project is an initiative aimed at creating a sustainable city where nature and convenience coexist. Envisioning urban development for the future, the project has been using vast reclaimed lands in the Tokyo Bay as a testing ground for cutting-edge technologies since 2022. Encompassing next-generation mobility, renewable energy, and environmental improvement, ongoing projects include a water-air combination drone, a flying car, and the production of hydrogen from sea water.
Some of partner companies presenting their technologies include Shimizu Corporation, with its tech for absorbing and fixing Co2 in concrete structures, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, with its wind-powered hydrogen production vessel, and Sirius with its nursing care body-washing device.
SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025, one of Asia’s largest start-up conferences, is focused on gathering technology and ideas to tackle the sustainability challenges facing the world today. SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025, to be held next May in Tokyo, offers start-ups a platform where they can build business opportunities, exchange ideas, and meet senior officials from cities around the world. The 2024 edition brought together no less than 156 speakers, 40% of which were from outside of Japan, start-ups from 81 countries and territories, and 21 city leaders from around the world.
