This year, IFA celebrated its 100th birthday by looking back at its long and eventful history while putting on a great show ready for the future with a brand-new, modern visual identity. There was no shortage of inspiring moments at IFA 2024, and visitors left the Messe Berlin this year with lasting memories.
The Opening Gala kicked off the event on a high note with the presence of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, demonstrating the importance of IFA for Germany and Europe, and setting the stage for the five exciting days ahead. Throughout the show there were plenty of industry insights to be culled from the keynote and roundtable sessions, as well as discoveries to be made at exhibitors’ stands where the latest innovations in audio, communications and connectivity, fitness and digital health, home entertainment, home appliances, mobility, and smart homes were on display.
Visitors were also able to glimpse cutting-edge tech from pioneering start-ups at IFA Next. They were treated to exceptional concerts in the Sommergarten, and a unique exhibition marking IFA’s 100th anniversary. IFA once again brought the consumer electronics and home appliances industry together all in one place for some very impactful connections.
Chancellor Scholz was not the only celebrity at IFA this year. Pop-rock legend Bryan Adams gave a special concert while singer, actress and philanthropist Nicole Scherzinger gave an exclusive fireside chat about tech’s impact on the entertainment industry, and at the stands some well-known chefs were also on hand.
AI was a major focus area at IFA 2024, with new product launches reflecting the increasing use of the technology to predict consumers’ needs and make their lives easier. Sustainability also continued to be an important concern, visible in innovations that not only save energy, but incorporate recycled materials, and in the way that brands are reinforcing both durability and the ability to repair their products.
IFA was once again a prime platform for business-to-business transactions and this year’s show saw a double-digit increase with 133,000 trade visitors. Press coverage also grew this year with a 60% increase in coverage in Asia, and a general increase in coverage of 21%. Overall, IFA 2024 received 215,000 visitors from 138 countries, up 18% from last year’s show.
