Cooperation was the name of the game as Acer was joined by Google, Intel, Microsoft and Nvidia onstage at the company’s IFA 2024 press conference.
While the Acer press conference on Wednesday was a guest-heavy showcase for Acer partnerships and launches, there was one product that stole the show. The reveal of “world-first” Predator Project DualPlay drew a gasp from gamers in the packed auditorium. A brand new concept designed to answer the perennial dilemma for PC gamers – “mouse and/or keyboard?” – this laptop gaming PC has a detachable wireless handheld controller embedded in the touchpad space, which pops in and out smoothly and can even be further separated into two smaller control pads. Hosting the event, Acer Chairman & CEO Jason Chen was equally proud to announce the company’s first ever handheld gaming PC. Nitro Blaze 7 will consolidate the user’s Gamespace portfolio into one portable Windows device.
Game Intelligence was one of the five pillars of the Acer show, which also included Eco Intelligence (showcasing the Taiwanese company’s commitment to sustainability, as evidenced by its inclusion in Time Magazine’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2024 list) Human Intelligence, Cool Intelligence (with smart new triple-fan Predator Cyclone X360 promising to reduce motherboard temperatures by nine degrees) and Future Intelligence – announcing a newly-signed collaboration with Tokyo-based design house, amadana.
Cameos including Mark Linton, VP Device Partner Sales, Microsoft; Jim Johnson, Sr. VP, Client Computing Group, Intel; and VP & GM of ChromeOS at Google, John Solomon added to the collegiate sense that Acer is counting on its partnerships to elevate its ability to innovate across the entire new product range launched onstage on Wednesday.
