Reseller Park at IFA 2024: An international platform as “environmentally friendly” as possible
Reseller Park has doubled its presence at IFA this year, expanding to fill the entire Hall 25
With an increased focus on sustainability and green tech, Jan Nintemann, Managing Director and Owner of Reseller Park organiser Global Fairs, gives IFA International a glimpse into the networking platform’s goals and influence at the show this year.
What do you believe is responsible for Reseller Park’s remarkable expansion this year?
I am honestly incredibly proud that after the very successful Reseller Park at IFA 2023, we were able to double the size of the area and the number of exhibitors in 2024: from half of Hall 25 to the entire hall and from 110 to 220 exhibitors. We expect around 12,500 visitors on all five days of the trade fair. The strong expansion is mainly due to two growth areas in the Reseller Park, namely the noted interest from IT and telecom distributors on one hand, and the rapidly growing refurbishing sector on the other. The refurbishing sector is certainly the fastest growing sustainability market in consumer electronics. With eBay and numerous distributors and traders, it is an interesting place for specialised retailers to expand their business in this sector. With exhibitors such as KOSATEC, ECOM, Trust, UFP Germany, Go Europe and Click Entertainment, for example, the Reseller Park will attract a large number of trade visitors.
What can you tell us about the sustainable practices and innovations that will be presented?
The main theme of Reseller Park 2024 and in subsequent years will be green tech and sustainable solutions in the consumer electronics and ICT world. Climate change is progressing year by year, forcing the transformation of the economy and society. In addition to the refurbishing sector, we have a whole range of green tech manufacturers, for example the company Biond, which has been presenting many different mobile phone cables made from raw wheat material for years. Furthermore, my agency Global Fairs has committed to sustainability by storing and reusing 100% of the entire stand construction (except for the recyclable carpet), 100% LED lighting and predominantly vegetarian catering, the norm for a project that is as environmentally friendly as possible.
With exhibitors from all over the world, how does Reseller Park reflect global trends in B2B distribution and reselling?
Reseller Park traditionally has a high proportion of international exhibitors, around 60%. With this international exhibitor structure from over 50 countries, the Reseller Park is interesting both for German suppliers (for export) and for the whole world (B2B). Due to the global political situation (Supply Chain Act, ESG/CSRD-EU regulations), there are signs of slight shifts in international manufacturing and marketing structures as well as climate and environmental challenges. Production facilities are tending to relocate more to Europe again and the entire distribution market is increasingly becoming not only European but overall more international.
Reseller Park celebrates 25 years at IFA
As IFA turns 100, 2024 is also a milestone year for Reseller Park marking 25 years at the show. The international networking platform will celebrate on Saturday, 7 September from 6:00p.m. with an attractive stage programme including a Flying String Quartet LA FINESSE, an acrobatic group, DJ Open-End, a cocktail bar and much more. Jan Nintemann emphasised that “all long-standing friends, participants and visitors to Reseller Park are cordially invited to attend.” The idea of Reseller Park was born back in 1997 at IFA Berlin, with companies such as HP, Packard Bell and LogiTech looking to enter the consumer electronics market. The park has grown each year as progressive digitalisation has changed sales channels. Jan Nintemann outlined that Reseller Park has “continuously fulfilled its function of cost-efficiently concentrating convergences and industry overlaps on its B2B platform.”
