Reviewing IFA’s 100 years as a leading industry platform may call up some of its more remote decisive moments, but the show has never stopped reflecting how the industry has continued to evolve, even in more recent years. In the last of our memory lane series, we look at a few more recent milestones in IFA’s history.
Alexa, Cortana and Siri-powered voice control was a big trend at this edition of IFA and more and more devices that communicated with each other in the networked household could be controlled by spoken commands.
IFA Next had a partner country for the first time this year: Japan. Artificial intelligence, or AI for short, began setting exciting trends and IFA showed how extensively AI had already found its way into products in the consumer and home electronics sector.
This year marked the restart of IFA after the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and lockdowns of the previous two years. AI became the focus in the household appliance sector, and, a fully recyclable insulation material, perlite, for refrigerators and freezers, showed a growing concern for sustainability.
The Sustainability Village, demonstrating the industry’s environmental responsibility, along with the House of Robots, became the show’s newest exhibition areas.
