Advanced technologies and health: How far are we willing to go?

Consumer electronics experts Dr Sara Warneke, Managing Director at gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH, and Dr Martin Schulte, Partner, Global Sector Leader and DACH management Committee at Oliver Wyman, will present the findings of an international survey on the topic of awareness and acceptance when it comes to new technologies and healthcare.

Smart technologies and robots are making their way into our lives in new and  sometimes surprising ways, including in the healthcare sector. But when it comes to medicine, in particular, how willing are we to accept this transition?

This question is the subject of an international survey conducted by gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH, IFA Trademark Owner, and the management consultancy firm Oliver Wyman. Tomorrow, on the second day of this year’s IFA trade show, Dr Sara Warneke, and Dr Martin Schulte will give a much anticipated presentation on their findings.

The presentation, set to take place at 12:00 p.m. on the IFA Dream stage, will focus on the issues of both awareness and acceptance when it comes to how AI and new technologies are being applied to healthcare. There are clear advantages to be gained from introducing new, advanced tools into healthcare, but some patients might need to be reassured about this shift in medicine.

Saturday’s results presentation will be followed by an expert discussion on digital health, a key area of focus for IFA Berlin this year. Participants include Constanze Büchner, CEO of CrewLinQ, a start-up that has developed a digital solution for outage management in the health and care sector, David Reger, CEO of Neura Robotics, a German high-tech company, and Dr Tobias Glaunsinger, specialist in general medicine and infectious diseases from Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.
