IFA 100 Years The Exhibition, celebrating IFA’s important anniversary with a collection of vintage innovations and artworks created specially for the occasion, is a special show not to be missed.
Beginning in 1924, IFA has always reflected the evolution of innovation, witnessing the revolutionary breakthroughs that have transformed the consumer electronics and home appliances industry. And now, one hundred years later, as the show continues to captivate visitors with fresh, ground-breaking innovations, IFA has a lot to celebrate. IFA 100 Years The Exhibition is commemorating that impressive legacy with a collection of historic products and photos, as well as a collection of original artworks created specially for the occasion.
Take a walk down innovation’s memory lane with some of the most significant advances that have made history over the past 100 years, from Siemens’ “portable” phone from 1993, the first of its kind, to WIGO’s 1954 Wigomat, the first electrically operated filter coffee machine, Sanitas Berlin’s first electric hair dryer from 1910, JVC’s first VHS-based VCR from 1976, and Bosch’s first food processor from 1952. Other highlights include Braun’s 1956 radio and record player combo, Sanyo’s 1980s Ghettoblaster; the Sony Discman; JVC’s first VHS-based VCR, Miele’s historical torpedo-shaped vacuum, and the Super Nintendo entertainment system.
Apart from looking back at history, the exhibition also highlights the connection between technology and art, featuring the work of eight Berlin-based artists inspired by IFA’s heritage and the future that lies ahead for the show over the next 100 years.
