One of the 100Moments celebrating IFA’s centenary, THE13 is an essential destination for music aficionados, DJs, clubbers and anybody with a keen ear for innovations in audio technology.
Housed in the architecturally beautiful Rotunda, at the foot of the Funkturm Radio Tower, THE13 contains a performance stage that has been tailor-made in partnership with iconic Berlin institutions, showcasing how the best talent is using the latest audio technology. From interactive DJ workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions and networking opportunities to unique performances, live podcast recordings and celebrity appearances, THE13 is the place to be seen… and heard.
This afternoon, the vinyl revival is up for discussion at the TECHNICS panel, with expert guests including Roberto Walcher, Store and Marketing Manager, HHV Records and Berlin-based techno duo, German DJs and music producers, Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix – collectively known as PAN-POT – who will then perform at the after party.
Further highlights include “Love Music More” – an immersive experience presented by Dolby on Sunday, where Schiller (successful German electronic artist) will discuss his life and music, and voice actor Dietmar Wundar (the German voice of James Bond) will also make a star appearance. Saturday will feature a panel titled “Innovation as Tradition: The Berliner Philharmoniker Celebrate Two Media Anniversaries” with Olaf Maninger, Principal Cellist and Media Board Member, and Christoph Franke, Recording Producer, onstage to discuss the world-renowned orchestra’s pioneering work in media distribution of their concerts, marking their milestones including the establishment of the Digital Concert Hall and the Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings label.
